The military uses some "animal" terms for thing that involve no animals. I thought I would list some and others can add to the list. Some of these are Civil War but most are not.

1. No elephants are involved when one "sees the elephant".
2. Military "dog and pony shows" do not usually have any ponies or dogs.
3. One does not need any goats for an Army "goat rope".
4. No dogs are needed by "The Devil Dogs".
5. One does not need any dogs to be a "dogface".
6. "New fish" are not really fish.
