Newspapers from the CW era
Just spent 4 hours in the research library/history center at the Rock Island Illinois Historical Center near the armory and John Deere home. It was kinda weird reading of Lincoln's death, Booth, Mrs. Surat, and reports from DC in the original newsprint.
Did find several letters and articles on the 126th Illinois. Fairly lengthy article on the welcome home party.
And found I need at least two more days there!!!
One humorous finding: Someone suggested taxing lying.
