New York Cavalry uniform

In another thread tonight I questioned if artist who do uniform illustrations do their own research or simply reuse other artist works. When I was scanning an example of this, I gave some thought to this illustration. The regiment ifs not given and based on photographs I am not sure the uniform illustrated is as common as the book says. What does other uniform people on the forum think? Any guesses on which New York Cavalry Regiment this is?
