New Naval Books Coming

I trust my Naval Forum friends will pardon an OT post:

The Naval Institute Press Spring catalogue just arrived. Its a great day -- and a painful day. So many new books, so little time and money. These are the ones I find especially interesting:

Friedman, US Battleships (looks like a Parks job)
Cosentino, British & German Battlecruisers -- Development and Operations
Dodson, Kaiser's Battlefleet
Schliehauf, Jutland -- The Staff Appreciation (the book that the Staff created, but was destroyed because it was too damming)
Taylor, The World of the Battleship (design and career of a battleship from each of a dozen navies, plus life on a ship, ship's organization, etc)
Dunn, Blockade (both British and German blockades in WWI)
Hughes, In Pursuit of the Essex, 1812

I believe that the Friedman book is a paperback reissue of his classic U.S. Battleships: An Illustrated Design History. I have a number of the entries in that series (cruisers, destroyers, carriers, small combatants, as well as battleships) and they're quite good, though the uninitiated should beware that they are design and technical histories, with only a minimum of operational/ship history-- if you want to find out what the ships did after they were launched, for the most part you'll need to look elsewhere.
