I'm noticing that we have a heavy influx of new members. And I'm so happy!

Every newbie is another who simply likes that piece of history that I like.

No. I'm not going to list them, and I may have missed welcoming a few of them to this board. And I really don't remember their names ... except Boozer (that's hard to miss.)

What it comes down to is that the community of CW freakazoids has not gone away.

I'd be mowing my lawn right now if it weren't for new people showing an interest. (Maybe I ought to be mowing it anyway? I get confused.)

Meanwhile, new people, there are never enough new people. We often get stuck in a rut and, "dang! Taking Sumter makes perfect sense." And then we get new people.

Thank you. Very much. For choosing to jump in and splash around.

Hello ole, I thank you for the general welcome. I am definately one of the new recruits. In so far as your internal history is concerned I am a blank canvas. I am however a keen historian and stumbled upon your site while investigating the life and times of Lew Wallace. I cannot express enough the admiration I have for the contributors on this site for their knowledge and enthusiasm. There are a great many anniversarys upcoming over the next few years , enjoy and honour them as you wish.

Hey All!

I found the ACWS by accident. I was looking for information about a sutler who may or may not have ripped me off... There was a closed thread from 2 years ago that I found. I looked around the site and decided to join. I am in New Mexico, born and raised in New England and heading back within the next few years ;) Anyhow, we have a thriving re-enacting community here and I met my husband Ponch at a living history event at Fort Selden. We portray civil war, and yes, there actually were a few battles here(!) and Indian Wars.

I've also notice all the new members and I am tickled pink....or maroon....or something. Having spent all day showing video on Ft. Sumter, I am stoked about the next five years. It was so much fun to know my students at least will know what it was! (And they have to pass a test tomorrow :)).

Four Leaf Clover, Widda, glad to have both of you on board. What a small world it is....having lived in New Mexico for several years, I'm quite familiar with the legacy of Lew Wallace, and I've been to Ft. Selden, Ft. Union and all points in between (and east and west, north and south), so glad to have both of you to bring me up to speed again!

Yeah, it's great to see all the newcomers. Always good to hear some new ideas and perspectives. But I have to admit, I'd be out mowing the lawn regardless... if I only had a pontoon mower. :noway:

Welcome, y'all!!

FourLeafClover and Widda, a big and warm Texas welcome!

I am so glad to see the growing number of new members.

After nearly 3 yrs of being a member, I am very pleased to know that the positive attitude and the desire to share a wealth of information is still the staple of this site.

Like a large family we have the occasional squabble or disagreement. These become side issues in the whole scheme of things.

There is no place like this home away from home!

I'm a newbie who also discovered this site by accident. I tend to be more of a listener than a talker until someone asks my opinion and then I tend to suffer from "foot in mouth" disease. I like this type of forum because there are so many individuals beyond my cloistered world who willingly share information which I never had privy to. History is a living, breathing tapestry which changes with every undiscovered thread of information.

I love learning. I look forward to learning more from the members of this site. Thank you.

Most of us on this forum are quite accustomed to the taste of shoe leather! Glad to have you here.
