Hello all!
This is Library Lady, and I've volunteered (and been most graciously accepted) to be the new host of the Civil War Books, Stories, & Media Forum. I'm currently semi-retired and work as a shelver at a local public library. Books and movies have been my "thing" for as long as I can remember. Books in particular were/are my weakness. When I was a kid, someone was always telling me to get my nose out of a book and go do something else. I once spent about 2 weeks trying to get locked in the town library to escape those people and be left alone with the books.
Lucky for me, the head librarian understood (and never told my folks about their little "problem patron"). As for movies, most kids remember a Disney movie as their first trip to the cinema. Not me - my first movie was The Longest Day. When I decided to major in history and geography in college, my Dad asked my Mom where they went wrong with this kid (me). Really, Dad, you didn't have a clue?
I'm lacking when it comes to games and cable TV, so I'm hoping you all will help me out with that.
My goal for the forum is to spread a positive message about Civil War books, movies and media. I believe there is something for everyone - just not exactly the same thing for everyone - so I'm hoping you will help fellow members of the community to find what is right for them.
There are around 175 pages in this forum, so you probably suspect that even I don't know what all is in here - and you'd be right - so come explore with me!
Your obedient servant,
Library Lady
