This could be a deetail of the April 9 surrender, but in the next posting you'll see unidentified generals, let's say this scene occured somewhere around and concerns a group of Lee's command...I plan to make my own version of Appomattox court house surrender one of these days, it's a good challenge cause it has been represented many times by talented artists.
 
I definitly prefer to draw peacefull USCW scenes than battles, even if this war was bloody and brutal, it's end was "fair" through the conditions afforded to deafeted soldiers, for example,I've heard that southerners living in dangerous areas , indian country mainly, were granted to keep their weapons...not sure about this, I surely can get the answer here :beaver:
 
As usually, I notice the same main problem (among others) once finished : I lose the scale while drawing...some characters ,supposed to be in front of others are smaller, and vice-versa...for those of you interested in scale modelism, front rank subjects are supposed to be 1.32 size (toy soldiers), second line 1.35, middle 1.48, back 1.72 and back x 2 : 1.100 (trains models)...
