I found these today while researching my grandmothers side of the family. It seems I had a lot of relatives in the 29th Virginia. John J. Edwards however was a sharpshooter in the 30 BN VA sharpshooters. I am not familiar with that unit at all. So back to more research. However, I am finding that most of my kin were from Carroll or (Grayson) county, Patrick County, Henry county and the surrounding area. I need to take a trip this summer and see these places myself.

I am thrilled and the more I find the more my wife says I am obsessed. LOL She said I needed a hobby.

LOL...she may be sorry at some point. I don't think my husband ever thought half our house would be devoted to genealogy notebooks, files, etc...and stopping at every graveyard from Mississippi to Virginia (I didn't know about the Pennsylvania folks at that point!)

Those appear to be new markers. There are 2 William P Edwards listed and I believe they are one in the same. Let me know and I will get you his complete records.

I think it's great that you found them. Obviously, someone else found them recently, too--thus, the new Confederate tombstones. I think that's all great! I will never forget the day I first found my CW ancestor's grave.

My GGGrandfather, George Washington Litton, was in Company G of the 29th Virginia Infantry. He and his brother Andrew Jackson Litton were from Lebanon, VA. George is buried in Cypress Hills National Cemetery in Queens NY after passing while in Harts Island POW Camp.

David
