Me and new member @Rick Featherston will be at Corinth/Shiloh for one full day on Sunday,June 4th. At the crack of dawn Monday,June 5th, we are leaving for Franklin. We are already planning on spending Tuesday,June 6th,at Murfreesboro. Any suggestions for ACW sites to hit between Corinth/Shiloh and Franklin on the Monday ride up there?

Edit to add: The name "Featherston" might be familiar to some of ya. :D

Anyone have any suggestions?

The brochure for Corinth includes a map for Battle of Davis Bridge. It is an interesting battle that is a little drive West of Corinth into the country side. There is not much there but it becomes more interesting when you review the battle field.

Drive down Hiway 157 and you will see sites of several Forrest/Chalmers battles along the Memphis & Charleston RR. After passing LaGrange and Grand Junction, continue on 157 to Battle of Moscow(Dec 4, 1863) and Battle of Lafayette Station at Rossville. Further down the road is a walking tour of the Battle of Collierville.
I would be glad to give you a tour of Battle of Collierville.

For a brief history of Moscow and Lafayette Station, see my posting: Forrest's Cattle Raid.

I was hoping this would catch your eye. :D Are these places between Shiloh and Franklin? We are trying not to double back to hit any sites on that Monday. The direct route we are looking at goes through Crump, Savannah, Waynesboro and Columbia.

While at Corinth don't overlook the Crossroads Museum which I did by accident last year on my visit. Its highly rated. If you don't mind visiting a different kind of tragic CW site, there is the Buford Pusser Home & Museum (of "Walking Tall" fame) only ten miles from Shiloh in Adamsville. Its on my list.

No. I didn't read all the details and assumed you were heading West from Chattanooga to Fort Pillow. It sounds like your itienarary is taking you East to your meeting. But if you plan to stop at Fort Pillow on the way home, then you could take this route. However, I expect you will stick to Interstate. We will talk later.

If you do go to Corinth, then Davis Bridge is about 25 Miles (or 30 minutes) West of Corinth.

LOL, I tried to get my wife to go on a "getaway" to Nashville next month as I had alternative motives in visiting Franklin et all. She didn't bite on it...I told her we could catch a concert in the evening...

Hope you enjoy your trip!

The Forrest Boyhood Home is pretty special.... Elm Springs SCV manages it, and I suspect you can wrangle a tour.
Lunch on Wednesday June 7th is on the grounds at Elm Springs Plantation by invitation from Mike Landree,SCV Executive Director.

Columbia, Spring Hill, Thompson Station. Shiloh to Franklin is not too far (not for Texas distances) so you'll have time on Sunday to poke around too. Depending on where you are staying Nashville is a vey short ride up the interstate. Lots to see there.

Our Tour is going to Columbia and Spring Hill on Wednesday, Spring Hill and Franklin on Thursday, Franklin and Nashville on Friday.

I'm in Franklin, if you want to meet up for lunch. Shoot me a message! Thanks! I'd be happy to bike you around town, there are plenty of CW sites to see. Franklin is pretty bike-friendly.

Thanks. Was there for about half a day in June last year. We will be in Columbia/Spring Hill/Franklin/Nashville on a 4 nights,3 days guided battlefield tour.

Welcome to CivilWarTalk from The Trans-Mississippi Department.

Don't get in such a rush to see so many sights that you don't do justice to the ones you do. At least one full day at Shiloh, one full day at Stones River. Probably a whole day at Franklin as well, between the Carter House (spend a lot of time there), Carnton Plantation and the Confederate Cemetery. Quality time is better than quantity...
