I am on the trail again of my g-g-g-grandfather, A.W. Rowe. He might have been 1st Sergeant of Company C, Tennessee Brown Horse Light Artillery Battery. Naturally I can't find a unit by that name except the US, Civil War Soldiers Records and Profiles, 1861-1865, states that there was a A W Rowe in that company. Any help with finding out anything about this battery would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jerry Buzan (TinCan)

There is nothing fishy about the name - the Brown Horse Artillery was commanded by Captain W.R. Marshall and alternate designations of artillery batteries after the commanders are standard.

Also a little info about the unit right here.
