quick question on the hobby, I am thirty years old and reenacted from about 10-11 to maybe 23 and loved it but over the last 7 or so years have not had the time. this past summer I ran into my old company at a local event and I wanted to/asked to join back up. my job doesn't allow much time for it but I really want to get back into it. my question is, is the hobby still the same or am I going to be disappointed or maybe even more happy. what is new in the reenacting world now?
thanks

Where I am from, some events are shutting down due to lack of funding from the public. It may be different out in your area, which is why I suggested that your Pards will have a better answer for you.
As to the reenactors, again, in my area, there's been little change....a few new guys come in, a few fall out.
The main thing, for me, is I have fun with my Pards and I enjoy teaching the public.....that hasn't changed!! :)
Good luck!!

Same here, I have been in since about 2000, and I am an oldie(61 in a few days). But like Albert says they are going to bury me in one of my uniforms. Well I already told the wife to cremate me and shoot me out of a cannon at an event or sprinkle me around Shiloh or Gettysburg.
