Apparently I was in violation of copyright law when I posted my previous thread. If you want to see the article go to King Arthur Flour's wonderful website. Look for Flourish, the blog spot. Sorry for any inconvenience or irritation this has caused. Mea Culpa, mea culpa.

I wondered why it disappeared. You have to be careful of certain sites. They don't allow copying. I didn't know King Arthur didn't. I do have their cookbook. I think I posted on the book.

I was very surprised to learn how late chocolate chip cookies were invented! Not only did Civil War soldiers never eat chocolate in a cookie, my grandfather and even my father wouldn't have had them as children! 1939 is really recent - and today I think the default "cookie" most people picture when asked to picture a cookie is a chocolate chip one. Just shows how rapidly traditions can take deep root.

I love Guinness and bacon at different times and seperately. Sounds interesting? Hmmmmmm! Too bad we don't have taste-a-vison available.

Bourbon works amazingly well in the bacon chocolate chip cookie, too! That I've only made once, though. I've made the Guinness ones a few times - the Guinness, cooking down to a nice syrup, becomes like caramel!

The issue was with the length of my copying, apparently. Now I know why other people on here just post the link to the site. Live and learn!
