I can't make out that handwriting on the back - "brittson?"

The individual was probably an officer in the Second or Third Seminole War in Florida, and possibly the Civil War as well. All other CDVs in the collection are of such individuals, but the rest are identified and mostly well-known.

This is John Ericsson, the inventor of the original USS Monitor.
