Muzzle plug

My two carbines don't have the luxury of having a case or even a wall hanger. They're just resting upright on the corners near our piano. With that, I had to find something that would keep the dust and humidity out of the inside. Tried stoppers, but they looked stupid. Months back, I was in the plumbing section at Menards and came upon the perfect rubber piece that wold seal yet be low profile. Check out the photos. Eric.

Thanks for sharing this. Never thought of that type of plug before but I would make sure that the barrel was cleaned with light oil to prevent any rust before using the plug.

IMHO, if you plug the bore, you better be sure it provides a good seal. If any moisture is able to enter, then it will provide a good environment to generate rust. The higher the humidity in the air, the greater the chance of moisture entering the through any opening. Is the breech end plugged or sealed in anyway?
So I wouldn't try to plug it up. Just keep oiling it and get a dehumidifier.
