During Morgan's Raid into Ohio, Ohio Governor David Tod called out the "unenrolled" Ohio Militia - in specifics, "In organizing the forces into battalions and regiments, the volunteer companies will, as far as practicable, be organized separately from the enrolled militia".
And this was the case as a portion of the Gallia County militia [Ohio] for instance skirmished with Morgan's forces at Pomeroy. And other unenrolled militias from all over were organized too and played their part.
I was wondering if anyone had any other information on the general "unenrolled" militia during Morgan's Raid. From what I've read, it's the enrolled militia that gets most credit in the defense/capture of Morgan but the unenrolled militia was also imperative. Thanks!
