I drove over to Gettysburg from my home in Chambersburg yesterday and took some photos in the park for about 2.5 hours. All the times I have been there I never took my iPad to take any. I'm not equipped with a camera. It was about 52° with a light breeze and overcast. I took quite a few but I will only post a few as to not bore folks. Afterwards I was going to stop in town at some shops but with the festivities this weekend it was really crowded and I saw no available parking in front of any of the shops so I headed for home.

Ipads take great photos and yours are very good! thanks for taking the time. Like many, I will never get to visit Gettysburg and the photos and stories mean so much to those of us in that situation. The Gen Gibbon statue is one of my favorites, mostly because of studying him so much and the fact he was out west in my location with much history here.

Nice! Now would it be possible for you to make a list to help out those of us who can't? Just a numbered list would be fantastic. I'm pretty sure the only way I am ever going to see some parts of the battlefield is through pictures.
1. I think that this is the Rose Farm but I'm not 100%.

2. The Bryan barn, looking northwest. Survivors of Davis' Brigade took cover on the west side of the barn in the final moments of Pickett's Charge.

3. Caissons along northern Cemetery Ridge, looking south southeast (almost turning around from the last picture).

4. Brigadier General John Gibbon's monument on Cemetery Ridge, south of the Copse of Trees. Looking east.

5. I think that it's on the Trostle farm but the more I look at it, the less sure that I am.

6. One of the monuments for the 9th Massachusetts Battery. Across the park road is where they made their last stand.

7. Kershaw's Brigade marker along Seminary Ridge.

8. Cross' Brigade marker in the Wheatfield.

9. The 1st Vermont Cavalry monument west of Big Round Top. Commanded by Colonel Wells on July 3 when they made an attack against the Confederate right with Brigadier General Elon Farnsworth.

10. Alabama State Monument along Warfield Ridge.

11. Monument to the 13th Pennsylvania Reserve (the original Bucktails). Located along Houck's Ridge near the Wheatfield.

12. New York's Irish Brigade monument. Located near the Stony Hill west of the Wheatfield.

13. 1st Vermont Cavalry monument. The earlier tablet is on one side of the monument.

14. Arkansas State Monument along Warfield Ridge.

15. Brooks Artillery marker. Located along Seminary Ridge near the Warfield House.

16. Letcher Artillery marker. Located along Seminary Ridge due west of the National Cemetery on Cemetery Hill.

17. Florida State Monument along Seminary Ridge.

18. Virginia State Monument along Seminary Ridge. Looking north.

19. I'm not sure which battery this is from but it's along Seminary Ridge, several hundred yards north of the Virginia State Monument.

20. Gettysburg Armory located on Seminary Ridge south of the Seminary buildings.

21. The McLean Farm located on the southeastern foot of Oak Hill.

22. I think that this marker is along Cemetery Ridge but I'm not sure.

23. 12-lb Napoleon just to the right of the (other) 9th Massachusetts Battery monument. Looking northeast.

24. The (other) 9th Massachusetts Battery monument looking north. Located just east of the Peach Orchard.

25. Rowan Artillery marker along Warfield Ridge. Nearby, there is a marker just that states that it marks the right end of the Confederate line.

26. Standing on Cemetery Ridge, looking northeast towards Major General George Meade's equestrian monument.

You are more than kind. Thank you very much.

Lots of people in town, yesterday for the parade. Did you catch it?

No, I didn't go back up. Personally, at 80 and not really feeling that great, I don't do parades or a lot of crowds anymore. But driving through the park and taking pictures is no problem. I don't mind the shops or restaurants either on slower days in Gettysburg. There were some reenactors walking around in the park too.
