I tend to celebrate Christmas in January. I just got another package today and am posting to see what everybody thinks. I am unsure about a couple of items but I want to get opinions. Can anybody identify the makers label in the kepi?

Very Nice The sword mark is CR Kirschbaum.

Very Nice The sword mark is CR Kirschbaum.
It is a very nicely made saber and has aged very well with just a few nicks on the edge and very little pitting. IIRC the Knights head on the ricasso is the rarer of the marks? There is nothing quite like pulling the blade from the scabbard for the first time.

The Kepi maker looks like a post war Henderson mark. The brim seems to be short kinda reminds me of the pattern 1898? But being so worn it's difficult to pin down. It appears to be missing the band and buttons which would help identify and date. Just my opinion! I love it and think it's a great addition!

The kepi was actually one of the items I was unsure about. I only saw pictures of the top and sides until it came today. It looked different from the post war kepis I already have. Since it all came as a package with the exception of the 1851 sword plate I decided to chance it.

Some nice item. I am looking forward to what others think of the kepi.
Me too. The kepi crown is soft and seems to be missing the stiffener (I think they were stiffened using pasteboard but I cannot recall for sure) if it was ever there to begin with. I don't know if this changes anything with the identification but I thought I'd mention it.

I think you got some great items. I hope you enjoy being the new caretaker of them.
Thank you. I am very proud of owning such wonderful pieces of history. If only they could talk, each piece has a wonderful story to tell I'm sure.

Could you post a photo of the back of the Eagle plate and does have a bench mark aka numbers

Very Nice especially with the bench mark on the tongue.

Nice grouping which will display well.
Flip over that sword, when you get time, and see if there are any marks on the other side from the Knights head ? Also have a good look in the throat area on the scabbard for letters, etc.. You could have a very pleasant surprise in front of you.

I also think the kepi, although a nice one is post civil war.
The kepi has me very confused. It has a similar look to the ones in my collection that are post ACW but there are definite differences. I took a side by side comparison picture of the one I just received next to one in my collection already. I just don't know what to think about it.
