More to come!

I was on a weekend tour of the First Day fighting by the ALBG a few years ago. One of the guides said that the soldier on the 149 PA monument is gazing out to where some of the unit's color guard were sent with the colors to draw Confederate artillery fire away from the main body of the regiment on July 1.

The Alabama monument took on a new meaning when I discovered that an ancestor with the 11th Alabama probably walked over that same ground and there are actually two monuments to firefighters on the field at Gettysburg, the one pictured to the New York Fire Zouaves and the one to the 72nd Pennsylvania aka the Philadelphia Fire Zouaves.
