Friends till the end. Old Joe insisted on removing his cap at Sherman's funeral and contracted pneumonia which resulted in his own death. He told a friend who requested he put his cap on. "If it were Sherman in my place and I in his, he would insist on doing the same". Soon after they were both in the same place.

Although admittedly not really monuments, these are places related to the two, particularly Uncle Billy.

Sherman's headquarters camp was near Shiloh Church

Sherman also used this hotel in Marietta, Georgia as headquarters for about a week between the battles of Kennesaw Mountain and Atlanta.
