MO Bushwhacker Victims

I can't say it never happened, but I don't know of it every happening. You couldn't do such a thing without your neighbor knowing, and your neighbor might inform on you. It's much more likely that people hid their valuables for the duration of the war, and sometimes hid themselves, regardless of who was in the area.
Fantastic yet terrible history about Missouri in the CW . I have 100 plus Documents of the 3rd Wis. Cav. when they were in West Mo. and in a few years will retire to our cabin in Mo. So always glad to learn something about the area.

That one of the reasons I seldom use innocent in relation to the war here.....civilian informers who reported on their neighbors to either union or guerrilla forces, are as much responsible for their neighbors fate as the respective forces that then visited them........

This site never ceases to amaze me. Many thanks to Mike Serpa. He had read my post that mentioned some of my family's names. He send me a couple of links to books about Thomas Jefferson Lamar that he thought may be connected to him. After looking at the books and comparing names and dates, they were about the Thomas Lamar in my family history. They revealed a lot of information about him that was not in the family history I have (it only contains birth dates, marriages, deaths, and an occasional short reference to other info.

It is one of the nice things about this site and the people who are involved; most are more than willing to share their knowledge.

Havent ever been there, but I go down to the east of there for my heart doctor, the area just south of there is nice, Sam Hildebrand country, have camped at St François park while getting a defibliator

Not much to see in Richwoods as it is an old mining town in the middle of nowhere and we have a cabin up in the hills . My wife and I like that area south of us especially the wine country St. Genevieve. We also visited Ironton Mo. and had a nice tour of the Pilot Knob CW battle field and the Fort Davis ??? Davidson ??? . We went there with another couple and the volunteer working there spent 2hrs. explaining the battle to us .

My ancestors were French and settled in st Ferdinand in St. Louis county in the early 1850s. I'm wondering if you folks know if the French received as much difficulty as the Germans.
