Military school nicknames.

The students at West Point and other military schools often give cadets nicknames. These often stay with, or haunt, the officer for years. My OCS nickname was "The Iguana" and I am sure many of our military members were daubed with some odd nicknames as well. What were some of the best military school nicknames of Civil War officers?

Future Union Brigadier General Hugh Boyle Ewing, a member of the famous Ohio Ewings who left without graduating in 1848, was nicknamed The Monk. While he was Catholic and fond of Latin the nickname was still thought to be ironic as he was anything but that.

At least it goes about character. I´m used to being called Gimli and dozens of other allusions to being short.
