Do you think this is a military uniform? If so, what can you tell me about it? Thanks in advance...
While that might be true enough, the TAX it paid was only in effect for photographs from 1864 - 66, meaning the photo was definitely made sometime within that two year span.FYI, the green Revenue stamp on the back is a First Issue stamp that was used between 1862 and 1871.

That is the the youngest photo of Parker I've seen!The collar does look as if it's not only turned up but fastened shut. May be it is simply to make it look more military but it may also be to conceal something Native, like a medicine bag. Might cut his hair to get into the army but wouldn't leave that behind! Sure is a kid, isn't he?
