I am working on my wife's side of the family and I have found a few people who I wish to get the military records for.

Alexander Young Bagley who I know was in Company D. 38 Alabama Infantry

There was also a Thomas William Bagley who possibly died July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg. I dont have any info on him other than that and I was not able to find any of his record.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do have access to fold3 but I admit that my skills at actually finding things is not that great.

I have found a couple pages of Alexander Young Bagley's record that says he surrendered at Citronelle May 4, 1865 and was paroled May 10, 1865

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Here are service records that I found on Fold3.com. At first, my search for Thomas Bagley turned up nothing. But then...

A. Y. Bagley
Private, Co. D 38 Alabama Regiment
Residence Clark Co. AL
Roll of Prisoner of War Meridian Miss May 10, 1865

Thos. W. Bagley
(Old) Co. A 5 Regiment Alabama Infantry
(This company subsequently became (new) Company I, 5th Regiment of Alabama Infantry)
List of recruits mustered by Capt J. M. Hall in Company A on the 16 Day of March 1862.
Clothing Receipt Roll issued Dec 23, 1862 and again on Jan 14, 1863.
Register of Gen. Hospital Camp Winder, Richmond VA
Admitted May ? 1862. Returned to duty Sept 2, 1862.

E. D. bagley also appears in Co. D of 5th Alabama Infantry.

There were not a lot of records. I thought maybe he might appear under a different Regiment if they re-organized but the search didn't find another listing.

Here is this and a picture of A. Y. Bagley.....it states he was assigned to the cook train...

Thanks for that link. I had not seen that one. Art Green who runs a site on the 38th sent me the following;

"Pvt.Bagley Co. D enlisted on Dec. 14, 1863, when surrendered at Citronelle, AL on May 4, 1865, he was show as being attached to Provost Guard, Clerks and Couriers of Holtzclaw's Brigade (still 38th Ala) commanded by Lt. Douglas.(? maybe a temp assignment) He was paroled at Meridian, MS on May 12, 1865."

I actually have a copy of that picture of A.Y. Bagley in some of the papers and such that my wife's grandmother gave us to possibly help with our research.

Thank you very much. I searched through pages and pages on fold3. I believe Thomas was born in SC and I was not sure if he made the journey to Alabama or if he stayed in SC. I mostly looked through Alabama records but have also began search through SC also in hopes that something would turn up. I will try to pull that record from Co. A 5 Reg. Inf.
