In his application for an Invalid Pension, my 2x great grandfather wrote of marching from Ft Donelson, TN to Pittsburgh Landing, TN. One source I researched about his regiment, the 68th OVI, indicates they marched to Metal Landing then took a steamer to Pittsburg Landing. I don't find Metal Landing on today's maps so am wondering where it is in proximity to Pittsburgh Landing and the distance between the two.

I'm showing on the Duck River near Centerville. Does that sound correct?
You are correct. Metal Landing is on the Duck River and is located on opposite bank (i.e., eastern bank) at Shipp Bend near Centerville, Hickman County. TN. There are many accounts by various regiments of reaching Metal Landing then taking ships to places such as Shiloh.

It could be, though Centerville is west of the TN River. If they were traveling by steamer, it seems unlikely they'd go that far out of their way to get to Shiloh. Did you find a specific mention of Metal Landing?
I just did a lazy google search and this came back. But maybe sketchy
