i was wondering...are there photo's showing people/soldiers who are coming together at memorial services after the war?

Not sure what you mean by memorial services. That phrase usually means a funeral. And there were those. But there were many more "reunions". If you search for "Civil war reunion photos", in your favorite photo search engine, you will find a ton. There are even some videos on youtube.

Hey LoriAnn,I had expressed myself wrong,i ment photo's of reunions,but they one you sent and the link is welcome because i wanna make a collection of the buriel places of all CW leaders,so thank you for starting my collection earlier ;-)

Hey rikken your question actually describes the entire next 40 or 50 years for most Civil War veterans!

Because if they weren't attending reunions they were attending monument raisings at battlefields Gettysburg especially

... and GAR conferences and local meetings

I just read a great book called Marching Home by a guy named Jordan (last name) and it is an incredible look at exactly what you are asking about:

-how the soldiers continued to commemorate their experience of a lifetime for the next 50 years

There are many reunion photographs posted on the Internet.

Survivors 24th Michigan 1889 Gettysburg reunion. Many of the men you see in this picture served as the honor guard for Abraham Lincoln's funeral train. At the end of the war when making the arrangements for Lincoln's funeral Stanton wanted a regiment that was highly decorated and from the west to escort Lincoln's body home to Springfield. He chose the 24th Michigan.

Hello clayfeeter,i did some research on the book 'Marching Home'if have big interest in the years after the war so i will see to order the book,i hope it will work because it's not easy here to order foreign boos,thanks for the info

You might distinguish memorials such as Decoration Day and reunions which some of the images would suggest. All reunions had a remembrance aspect to them.

That book appears to only covers Union memorials. It wasn't until the 1880's before the Southern states began building monuments.
