Anyone have some nice recipies for easy meals to be cooked while encamped? I'm curious as to what I can try while at camp during an event.

Can't go wrong with bacon and eggs. Search the food forum for authentic recipes. Ask your Mom to show you how to avoid burning everything.

My Dad could screw up boiling water.

As Ole writes there are many authentic recipes in Food Forum. However I will add a few here from "Confederate Camp Cooking".

Messmate Tomato-Corn Soup

2 cups chicken broth (or 2 chicken bouillon cubes in 2 cups boiling water)
2 cups canned tomatoes, cut up
2 cups whole kernel corn (drained, if canned)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon marjoram, basil, or oregano if available
dash of pepper

Boil up. Simmer, uncovered for 15 minutes.

Battlefield Baked Beans

2 (16 ounce) cans pork and beans
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons dry mustard
1/2 cup tomato catsup
6 slices uncooked bacon, cut in pieces

Combine the first four ingredients in a large casserole dish. Top with bacon. Bake uncovered at 325 degrees for two hours and a half.

Campfire Corn Bread

1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Mix dry ingredients. Stir in liquids. Spoon into a weel greased and heated 10 or 12 inch skillet. Cover tightly. Cook over a low flame for 25 to 30 minutes or until firm in the center.
