Robert E Lee had a heck of a hard time finding a wife. There were women lined up over the horizon to be his but their daddies invariably said no - they knew his daddy! Lee took after his mother, I think. Looked more like a Carter than a Lee! But he sure got the best features from both his good looking parents. Light-horse Harry was blond but very handsome. He gained in the waistline - the Lees tended to do that in middle age. It griped Lee, who considered himself a 'corpulent old man'. I can't see he was corpulent at any time of his life! And, he took after the Lees with their heart problems - quite a number had heart disease.
