Discussion M1841 Mortar Questions

A few questions on the M1841 24 pound mortar. What is the difference in it and the m1838? Were any of these documented being used in the Mexican war? Any western theatre use in the ACW? Lastly are there any production records? Thanks!

From memory of reading the above, the 24-pdr. Coehorn's first significant use in numbers was during the Siege of Petersburg in 1864-65.
