Hi all.

I found this last year along the wood line of a modern school yard where an old home once stood. My digging buddy found a beautiful US belt plate there. (That one still hurts that I missed it. :D) We hit it pretty hard after he found the plate. I found the button a week or so later and that was it for CW finds there.

I wish it wasn't smashed, but at least it's complete! Thanks for looking.

Do you really think so? I admittedly don't know a lot about CW relics, but I always thought plates were at the top of the want lists.

Here is a pic of the one he found. He did a good job getting it out of the ground without doing any damage to it. I probably would have mangled it.

You do realize how lucky you are to find a Louisiana Pelican button?

:smile coffee:

Very nice find! That's one I ve always wanted to find but it's managed to escape my machine and shovel.
I once read an amusing story , that as memory serves me , went like this.....
During the southern march into Maryland in 1862, and in spite of orders forbidden pillaging, some Mississippi boys entered a local merchants store and begin to help themselves to the merchandise. When the owner began to complain, one Mississippian replied "if you think we're bad, the Louisiana boys are on the road directly behind us"😂
