This is one of my favorite monuments at Gettysburg. It features St. Barbara, the Patron Saint of Cannoneers, holding a flaming cannon ball. I like the "Dove of Peace" perched in the tree.

Indeed the Louisana monument is beautifully done.

Everytime I visit this monument, I get an incredibly strong feeling of empathy for the Civil War infantryman when I see the exposed toes on the fallen soldier. I cannot fully comprehend what those soldiers endured at Gettysburg.

I too am very touched looking at the poor fallen soldier. The veins on his feet certainly draw one's attention. Thanks for sharing.
