Hello!

Could someone kindly help me locate the pension records for this man Luther Geer of the 105th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment?

Anything additional that I might have missed for his brothers would also be most appreciated.

___
Lawson Spires Geer
1821–1906
(A Private in Company "C" 2nd USSS.)

Joseph Albert Geer
1843–1883
(Served in the 105th Pennsylvania Infantry)

Newton Smith Geer
1836–1911

James William Geer
1829–1922

Michael H. Geer
1837-?

These men were from Jefferson, Pennsylvania or thereabouts.

The card you show for Luther has only his application number and no certificate number, which generally means the application was unsuccessful for some reason. The 1890 US Veterans Census has a note in Luther's record which says "rejected sent home." There's a story here somewhere! You may want to order a copy of the pension application to see what happened.

Luther's pension file has not been digitized. The original is at the National Archives in D.C. I can retrieve it for you (and others referenced below) if you like. See my signature.

The second image is about John S. Geer of the 2nd USSS who had a widow named Catherine M. who also received a pension. Are you saying that he is the same as Lawson S.?

Joseph A. of the 105th PA and his widow, Margaret J., received a pension #295538.

There were two soldiers named Newton Geary (sic) who served in a regiment from OH but I don't find any other service record or pension for Newton (S.) Geer or any phonetically-similar surname from Pennsylvania or elsewhere.

There was a James W. Geer in the 45th Illinois Inf. and at least six soldiers named James Geer (no middle) who served in a regiment from Pennsylvania. I'd need more information in order to distinguish them.

I don't find a service record or pension for Michael H. There were at least six soldiers named Michael Geary/Gearry/Gehry (no middle) who served in a regiment from Pennsylvania.
