Just visited Russellville and Longstreet's winter headquarters. Was not open but the wonderful gentleman who was there let my wife and I check it out. Just a wonderful experience to be in a place that such a brilliant leader once stayed.

Thanks for posting for us folks back in the eastern theater who normally don't get to these places.
Interesting enough the insert of the LoC account of soldiers winter huts on the Historical market is listed at the LoC as the winter of '62-63 at Fredericksburg not Ky. I am not positive but I believe the winter of '62 -63 was the worse in terms of inclement weather in Virginia during the war. But probably not in terms of supplements.
Great post. Thanks again

He said its been closed since November due to Covid, but as I said he let my wife and I go in. We talked about an hour about Longstreet, whom he had another of knowledge about. I learned alot

I figured so... but didn't know if maybe it was due to renovations or something of that sort. Thanks again for sharing.
