London Square Quilt Block

I have been busy, busy, busy today (only had time to "like" some posts and fuss at the fellas ) and the Hubby wants to go see Spiderman in about two minutes so I just wanted to see if there was any interest in something like this.

How about a "quilt along"? I thought this one was purty. I've had my eye on it for a while.

We could pick a simple pattern and those of us that were interested could complete the project together (or at different times) and encourage each other and show our work. Or heck, we could just yack about it too!

I picked out some fabrics for my block and am working on it tonight. It's nice, Hubby is busy with his new toy for church, a projector thingie and he's all excited about posting pics archeological digs and maps on a big screen for Sunday school class. and I can sit and sew. Usually, I am under a time constraint, having to do "homework" for my sewing classes. This one is for me!

This block started off simple enough. Cut two squares 6 7/8". One medium, one dark. Then cut both in half diagonally. I choose the red and brown.

Next I had to make 8, 2 7/8 squares. 4 light, 2 medium, dark and cut them diagonally also. Easy enough.
Then came the sewing. That was a little more difficult than I expected. Tiny piecing! They didn't want to fit together and ironing them was a pain! The direction were simple enough but maybe a more experienced quilter would have figured out a better way!

It was like fitting a puzzle together but by this time I was not having fun!

Finished product! Not sure if I like it or not. It's a little wonky. My points aren't defined and sharp. I think I need to try another but definitely not right now.
