The actual flag in question is the 1st MD flag, presented to the unit by the ladies of Baltimore, the flag is presently in the Maryland Historical Society and the bucktail is now sewn to the flag. Originally the bucktail was affixed to the staff, below the flag finial. The flag's home has been in the state house in Annapolis for quite some time. I have attached a picture of a replica of the original flag, that we use for the Historical Society and other events, in fact we had it at Harrisonburg this year for the CrossKeys/Port Republic march and battle.
The uniforms in the picture, depict Type I Richmond Depot (early war) 1st MD uniforms. We attempted to conserve the original flag, but were met with so much resistance from the state, that we preserved the Co A 1st National flag at the Museum of the Confederacy.
