Lincoln Lincoln assassination

It is not an "account" or interpretation of evidence. It is the evidence itself.
On the other hand, this book might also be handpicked evidence to prove a theory, much as you indicate all the other books handpicked their evidence to skip over the evidence showing the large amount of money involved.
By the way, where is your proof that that large sum of money withdrawn from the Canadian account shown in that link, was used for Lincoln's assassination. Show us that paper trail connecting it to Lincoln. Who took it, and who received it. How much did Booth receive. How about all the others in the plot. Am sure there are other large amount of money withdrawn from various accounts across the North, and even the South, that could be claimed to be the so called Lincoln plot money, unless we have a paper trail to prove otherwise. I said so, or I think, proves nothing.
IMHO

The book contains all of the evidence the government accumulated during the investigation. The editors do not suggest any theories whatsoever.

I have submitted no link and do not assert that an account in Canada was used.

I haven't waded through all the above, but my impression was that the Confederate operatives headed by the shady Jacob Thompson in Canada were financing whatever schemes Booth was hatching using Mary Surratt's son John as their go-between. Did Jeff Davis know anything about exactly what was being planned - ???

No offense taken. In 2009, a book titled "Lincoln Assassination: The Evidence" was published by the University of Illinois Press.

Ahhh man you going to make my buy another book ??.....lol...........and this one isn't cheap, not even for a kindle !!!

Jeff Davis had his faults but I don't believe he would have agreed to a plan to kill Lincoln.

I agree. I do not think Jefferson Davis would be involved in a plan to assassinate Lincoln................However, I must ask this..........

If he was, so what ?...................I mean it was a "hard war" and it appeared not much was off limits including the murder of innocent civilians.

Led by a colonel from Kentucky, which contributed thousands of men to the Confederate cause. What is all this secret ingredients business? What is he trying to hide? Jefferson Davis was born in Kentucky. So was Lincoln. It all ties in.

The plans were made over Kentucky Bourbon............lol

I think the Col. from KFC, Lincoln and Davis were the only 3 with the secret recipe. The Col. had Lincoln knocked off and Davis was to be next...................lol

The Col.'s plan was to make everyone's hands so slippery, they could not load, fire or even hold rifles, or ammunition, thereby ending the war and greasing the road to Southern independence, ....and high cholesterol.

I have found no evidence that he did. Nether did the federal government.

Some others felt the same way, particularly after the Dahlgren raid. They were frustrated that Davis was not replying in kind, so frustrated that...

I think the thread presents a good question. I've never really heard anything that would prove this either way.

There is no evidence. Strong evidence exists that Davis didn't learn of the assassination until days after.

When I hear something like the Top Man knew nothing or did not order it, I get very skeptical.
Nixon said he didn't order the break-in.
Hitler (or General Kesselring) may have pleaded ignorance about the order to execute 335 Italians in retribution for an IED killing 33 Germans.
The head coach for a college team may claim he was not aware of the payouts to his players.

In some of these cases or other examples, the Top Man did not HAVE to give an order. He set the tone of his leadership and those who took the actions were honored for their creativity. All it took was a nod and a smile. I'm not applying this to Jefferson Davis but I just need a little more proof that the order did not originate from the CS Government or the CS Army establishment.

As you know, it is impossible to prove a negative. But we do know that no evidence was found implicating Davis directly or indirectly, and the federal government searched high and low for it.

At least two key suspects with strong government connections, C.C. Clay and Judah Benjamin, destroyed their diaries, and Benjamin fled the country and remained abroad for the rest of his life. Clay was arrested but later released for lack of evidence.

Davis was on the run at the time (relocating the CS Capitol), Swanson has investigated this pretty throuly. His investigation reveals "While Davis had no love of Lincoln, he considered the news bad for the southern people" I've read a good bit about the assassination and really can't find the first shred of creditabl evidence Davis had any part. I will add had Stanton been able to connect the dots. Davis would have swung.

He almost swung anyway based on evidence fabricated by the prosecutor. That demonstrates how badly they wanted to implicate Davis in the conspiracy.
