I recently read Greg Marquis' In Armageddon's Shadow: The Civil War and Canada's Maritime Provinces (which, interestingly, saw themselves as very different from "Canada" at the time), which, though a bit uneven, does go through quite a bit of this history; it's not only the story of the effect of the war on the Maritimes, but also of the "Bluenoses" (Maritimers) who signed up to fight for the Union (and even a number who signed up with the Confederacy).

Whew! I thought you meant the Montreal Canadiens. They finished in last place in the east so I don't think they are getting any cheers especially in Canada. As a Bruins fan I enjoyed it though.

Looks like the series is tied 3-3. Tonight it's go on or go home.

I was hoping a mod would fix my error ("here"). Thanks.
The grammar police had the night off.
No monuments to Canada in the U.S. Civil War in the States.
In fact there is only one monument in Canada to service in the Civil War and that is to Dr. Solomon Secord who serve with the Georgia Volunteers.
I can find no recent information but in 2009 the National Canadian Union Veterans Monument project began fundraising and was seeking a petition to have the United States Gov. sponsor a monument.
The link below will take you to a page with the design for the monument.

It's interesting to note that four Union Generals were Canadian born and 29 Canadians were awarded the Medal of Honor. Over 5000 Canadians died during the war. For more information on the Canadians, there was a book published in 2004, "Canadians in the Civil War" by Claire Hoy. ISBN 1-55278-450-9
