Yeah... that is right... I am Lee Davis. But, I was not named for Robert or Jefferson. But, I do have Confederate roots, even though I identify as a Yankee, I suppose. My Great Great Grandfather, James Davis was a cornet player in the band in Jubal Early's division... and was at Gettysburg, well, he was at all of Early's campaigns. I feel a special connection to Early, for he was the 'commonwealths attorney for Floyd County, Virginia for a time... and I lived on 70 acres in Floyd county in the '70's. James Davis named his son "Robert Early Davis" (my Grandfather). My great uncle Brack was named for Bragg, for his father served under him. What can you expect when your father is from North Carolina? My Grandmother, Vella Hardin (also... she was a first cousin to John Wesley Hardin) was the daughter in a family of boys... named for Civil War friends and commanders.
But, My Mother was from Brooklyn. So, I guess I am a Yankee at heart.

Well either way Mr. Lee Davis it is a fine name and I wish to welcome you to the best CivilWarTalk Forum on the internet. Enjoy.............

William
