Lead Shot???

Hello all,
I found a half dozen of these mixed in with some old stuff at an estate auction. I believe they led shot. Any help would be appreciated.

5/8s what? Are we talking diameter or circumference? My .50 caliber's round balls are 5/10s (1/2 inch). Yours are 5/8s?

To simplify matters just divide the top number (5) by the bottom number (8). But I'm scratching my head cause it gives you a .62 caliber. Was there such a thing?

There were fusils in . 62 but the round balls would have been smaller.

There are still moulds made for .625 round balls. I don't recall if it's Lee or Lyman, Lee I think. So there is a market. There was a French musket called a Charleville in 69 caliber that saw limited use in the Civil War and with a thick patch, leather maybe, just may have seen a little action early in the war.

Sorry for being a pita. I went out and got a caliper and it looks like 17 mm diameter

So about . 67 caliber.

Could possibly be for a Springfield Model 1842 or Charleville musket. The ball could be for a modern reproduction.
