Post your answer by 6pm (eastern) on Wednesday, as I am leaving town for a couple weeks, and will be 'unconnected'.

This is a kind of a 'throw away' follow-up to our last question.

As we may have learned from our diligent research (!) for last week's question, Grant used several different horses during the war. One of these was named Jeff Davis.
- What other war horse, originally named Jeff Davis, was renamed by it's new owner, also a general? Give the new name of the horse and the name of the general.

'Extra Credit' - What famous figure from the Civil War era, at one time owned a dog with the same name (tho a different spelling) as the horse in the question above?

Hope you will all be ready on July 14 (normal time) for the start of our new game - see you then!

horses and dogs

General Lee's horse, Traveller wsa originally named Jeff Davis. And I believe it Was Jeff Daivs that owned a dog named traveller.

answer for the last sample question

Traveller

General Robert E . Lee

As for the exter credit , I am sorry to say I could not find it , and I am waiting sitting on the edge of my chair to find out what the answer is .

The horse was Traveller. The general was Robert E. Lee.
Darned if I can find the dog.

All those who replied got the correct horse and the correct general: Traveller and Robert E. Lee.

The 'extra credit' question was done mostly for fun, but also to sort of bring those horse questions full circle.

Jefferson Davis, with his dog, Traveler,
