Disclaimer first, which is after bumping into what I thought was a photograph which hadn't seen light of day for decades, found it on another website. Same photo although they didn't clean it up so I win.

Fire destroyed this incredible old building where Secession first became not merely discussion but declaration of intent. For now it remained this backward-flowing moment in time, a fixture , poses and flowers in full bloom and youth reaching manhood and History baffled in the form of this antiquated building steeped in breathless, reckless revolt.

Where would the next 5 years find these women, what would their losses be, whose sons and husbands and brothers were removed from the driving seat in carraiges drawing up outside Secession Hall later that day. Home to plantations as lost as freedom for a whole, other population was gained, Time reclaims checks and balances.

Our white sisters are here unaware their backdrop has included such skilled, noisy and present evidence of black sisters it would have astonished each one. The fashionable bonnet and enviable frock fashionable and enviable because a talented sister stands with each creation. In 2015, you're deeply appreciative of this- here inside Secession Hall. It will be a heckishly long time, these women will lose sons and husbands and brothers and friends. And unconsciously slide towards greater sisterhood with all women. As it should be.

Bottom half, for the amazing look at the people there that day.

I could have made this larger, to view our Sisters but just could not bring myself to cut the heads from those Greek Revival statues or do away with what appear to be cadets.

Bumped this. Remember when I found it, seemed so incredible- this place, this seed. Of what? I do not know. It is the women, our sisters who intrigue and have my sincere compassion on several fronts. Holders of enslaved sisters certainly, so far removed from each other, so needful of each other these next years.

The longer the topic of women and the war engages me, the deeper, wider, fuller my acquaintance with each sister the more urgent it seems creating this comprehensive record of services and experiences throughout those years and beyond. This photo takes on several like the front of a dust jacket to a book.
