Ladies, I Need Advice.

Ladies, I have recently joined a Civil War group as their photographer. Its great, better then what I thought it would be. I have to drees as a lady, but I hate that Im unsure of how to do my hair. I have french braided it and wore it in a french twist but I really cant leave it down because its a frezzy mess... so this is where you come in. If you have any ideas let me no, and are victorian hairstyles basically the same??? Another thing is I've never been to a civil war ball. So I would appreciate it if could comment some of the dances they did back then, so I could look them up and not make a fool out of myself. Thank You so very much.

Ladies Tea- got it thank you so much and its in moderate bcuz I just resently became a member of this site and I really dont no where to make threads such as this :/ sorry. Being a newbe and all... this site kind of still confuses me. And photography just a hobbie so far I really have no idea where Im going with it. Although I've looked into freelance and its awsome.

Formal portraits of the era were like formal portraits today and the result of lots of primping and styling. I suggest looking for photographs of women out of the studio to see how they might have looked. This one is 1863 Minnesota. Expired Image Removed

These women ran for their lives the way they made up their hair for a day's work. The parts down the middle imply braids, no?
