Thank you for posting this. Cpt. Blankenship lived a long life after the war. I think he has an interesting headstone. Years ago my wife was in charge of producing cemetary gravestones books for several cemeteries for her genealogy society. She had a fair number of members read the stones but spent days verify some of the writing on some stones before the books were ready to be printed, so I got to spend many hours helping her attempt to read worn out stones.
 
The way my Twainiac heart JUMPED when I saw that guy's surname, omg.

Also, it was his birthday just a week and a half ago! Happy birthday, sir, and thank you for your service.🫡
