<Salute> Johnnies and Blue Belly Friends,

Hope all is well on the home front! As the summer comes to a conclusion, I noticed a few prices on my Kindle App that seem a bit odd, but awesome due to their cheap cost. I was curious if anyone else, who uses a Kindle for reading (I prefer the Kindle, but sometimes nothing beats having a physical book), noticed some of these ridiculously low prices. I did some perusing and didn't notice any specified sales. Below are some examples. Rational behind this ? Just out of curiosity.

Emerging Civil War Series:

Fight Like the Devil: The First Day at Gettysburg, July 1, 1863--> $1.99

Don't Give an Inch: The Second Day at Gettysburg, July 2, 1863 --> $1.99
The Aftermath of Battle: The Burial of the Civil War Dead--> $1.99

The Maryland Campaign of September 1862: Volume III: The Battle of Shepherdstown and the End of the Campaign: 3 by Ezra A. Carman --> $1.99. This ones a steal in my opinion!!

The entire Chickamauga Campaign Series by David Powell --> $2.99 each wow! I'm going to grab these

The Emerging Civil War series are not very big books. Of course, I've only read the one you listed (Aftermath of Battle), and for a digital copy I can see them charging that against the cost of larger, more researched books.

To me, the most amazing thing is this:

CIVIL WAR – Complete History of the War, Documents, Memoirs & Biographies of the Lead Commanders: Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant & William T. Sherman, Biographies ... Address, Presidential Orders & Actions

4028 pages!!!
Kindle price: $1.99

Actually 0.99. It's probably because you can find this free at other sites on the internet. Still a good price unless it is a scanned copy that isn't very user friendly.

The simple answer is that they want to sell Kindle readers and Prime memberships. Most people who like Civil War histories prefer physical books and the ebooks you have listed didn't sell well and are now on the discount shelf as bait to attract reader purchases and new Prime memberships.

I have a truly loaded Kindle with all of my books in categories and have gotten a number of Civil War books absolutely free. Just search Civil War free books and see what you get. And have gotten some for under $2.

I have also gotten some from various download sites but sometimes the format is crazy with random letters and characters all over the pages. Yes, you get what you pay for and if it's free, buyer beware!!! As for rationalizing, if it is a legitimate site like Amazon it is for them to decide and not me.
