History Kedgeree

Thought I would bump this thread since folks were talking about curry. A very popular and historic recipe that uses curry is Kedgeree. It's quite a unique breakfast food for sure, but is quite good and is considered a classic British recipe of sorts as they borrowed it from India. Here's another recipe for it from a Downtown Abbey blog, it's Mrs. Patmore's Kedgeree. Little bit of trivia for everyone its the very first food item we see from her kitchen in the series way back from episode one.

Ingredients -
  • 2 cups left over long grain basmati rice (or brown rice).
  • 2 fillets of smoked haddock (or any other white fish), bones and skin removed
  • 2 hard boiled eggs, shelled and chopped finely (use more eggs if you like)
  • 1¼ cups of milk to poach the fish
  • 2 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • Small onion, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 tsp. curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp. grated nutmeg
  • Ground pepper (to taste)
  • Granish with some chopped fresh parsley

That recipe eases my mind a little...I thought I was strange and the only one who ate fish at breakfast. My favorite breakfast when camping is freshly caught trout, fried potatoes with onion and eggs over an open campfire. Everything seems to taste so much better when outdoors!!!
You never had a LEO omelet (lox, eggs and onions) great breakfast fare.
