Yesterday was the 150th anniversary of the tragic prison collapse in Kansas City, MO that injured a number of southern women and took the lives of several others. The folly of General Thomas Ewing's order to arrest and incarcerate the female relatives of William Quantrill's guerrillas cannot be overestimated. The fury that burned in their hearts from that time forward never abated. They saw it only as cold blooded murder.
