Julia Bullard Nelson (1842-1914) was an American temperance and women's rights activist from Minnesota. She earned a teaching degree in 1862. In 1866 Bullard married Ole Nelson. In 1867 their five-month old son died. Five months later her husband died.

In 1869, Nelson traveled to Texas where she would teach freed slaves through the Freedmen's Bureau. There were some three thousand schools for freed men and women.
