Recently found he is buried near me. Irish immigrant joined 8th Mo inf (US).

During 2nd assault won MOH for Gallantry in charge of the volunteer storming party.

Curious if anyone knows more details. He survived war, is buried at Illinois Soldiers Home in Quincy Il.

May 22nd 2nd assault on Vicksburg.

He would have been a member of the assaulting forces on Stockade Redan. Which is located on the Graveyard road.
