General Nelson just called with the sad tidings that Jay Luvaas passed away in mid-morning, evidently of a heart attack. His passing came swiftly and apparently without
pain.
There will be a memorial service for him in Williamsburg; the date is not yet set. He will be buried in the historic portion of Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg, also at an
indeterminate date. General Nelson will alert us as soon as dates are known.
He was our 11th HKJ Professor, an influential member of the AWC faculty, and one of the real giants of the military history profession. We have lost so many of the Great Ones
these past five years.
"Kuehn, John Dr CIV USA TRADOC"
Another sad loss. Anyone who has used any of his War College Guides know how much battlefield trompers owe to him.
