This is Jason's Bombshell. Andy was kind enough to provide a sketch of this boat that he made using a tiny sillouette from a period newspaper sketch. We made an error when we cut out the hull and made the bow too pointed, but hey, it is a kids model. He knows some of the history of the boat and knows about what it looked like. It is probably close to a one of a kind, can't imagine that there are very many models of this one. Thanks again Andy. His next boat will be the CSS Fanny.

He is very artistic. I cut his blocks of course. He paints everything, and touches up again and again till he gets it just right. He glues it together, I help on some of the alignment. He studies pictures and sketches when possible. Windows, doors, and flags are card stock and Crayola markers and Walmart paint. The main thing is that at his young age he has learned that taking your time will pay off in the end. The deck "clutter", I do. Those peices are still a little small for him. He has got to build his skill though, my eyes are failing me.

He's developing his skills in a big way.

Building wooden ship models is not for everyone, but it look's like he's up for the challenge.
At this age, his attention to detail is amazing!

The hobby will teach him two very important life qualities . . . patience & doing it right the first time.

I'm looking forward to seeing the additions to Admiral Jason's fleet.
