Just got back from a vacation exploring the Historic Triangle (Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown) as well as Virginia Beach. Loved the area, and must say it is truly a beautiful place. Unfortunately it rained on us a lot and we did not get to do as much as I had wanted to. But we did tour the battlefields and get a chance to explore some of the earthworks and get a bit of a fix, but the weather prevented us from many of our original plans. However, we will be back!
One note - Every middle school in Virginia picks the same day at the end of April to go on a field trip to the Jamestown Settlement and Fort. The only day of sun and we were surrounded by thousands of kids! We actually could not get into the fort, or onto the dock to see the ships. After about an hour or so we actually left as it was impossible to move or see anything without being in a sea of middle schoolers. Oh well, I guess me and my wife are officially old fogies now.
